PROCESS - STACKS + DRYING

All of our material is carefully stacked and air-dried in our dedicated drying barn for approximately two years before we kiln dry it and bring it to the studio in Beacon.  Each board is tagged with a code that identifies its species, source, cut date and position within the log. We keep the boards from each tree together in a "boule" throughout the process of drying.  Knowing the sequence of boards in the flitch will enable us to match color and grain when it comes time to make a piece of furniture. At any given time, we have approximately 10,000 board feet of wood in our drying barn.
